  • Fully assemble the bed, securely tighten the piston and place the mattress on top of the base, which helps you to put the base down, as this is supposed to hold the mattress on its own and they are stiff without a mattress on top of the base.

    Took about two and a half hours to put it together by myself, with all tools for the build being included in the kit.

    The bed is relatively simple to assemble. Be aware that the nuts, bolts, slats etc are shipped concealed behind a zip in the headboard. This is not mentioned in the instructions - I only found out when I contacted the seller.
    The gas struts are more than capable of lifting a mattress and whatever covers you may have on it. The storage is cavernous , it's hard to imagine how anyone could fill it to capacity!
    Overall I would say that bearing in mind it's comparatively low cost, this bed represents excellent value for money.

    Bed was delivered yesterday, 2 days later than the delivery estimate. I was not in when the item was delivered and so the driver left it outside on a very cloudy day. I was fortunate it did not rain. Took around 1 hr to build by myself and the instructions are very simple to follow. The lifting mechanism is a little stiff and did pop up once when i wasnt expecting it. Nice smack in the face. Maybe this is an optional extra??

    Overall its an ok bed. Not sure how long it will last. Velco base made my life a misery as just stuck to the floor.

Product description
This MODERNIQUE Branded Double Ottoman Storage Bed has been designed to offer both compact style and durability. Upholstered in a soft faux leather, this high quality metal frame bed offers substantial internal storage up to 25cm high and comes complete with a fabric base sheet. The gas hydraulics are designed to absorb the weight of a heavy mattress up to 75kg whilst allowing for smooth opening and soft closing. The beds also feature sprung wooden slats for comfort which are also apx 10mm thick for strength. Bed will come flat pack for home assembly. Box 1 will contain the headboard, on the back of the headboard there is a zip and all the slats footboard and fittings are packed in there. Box 2 contains the two side rails and centre bar. Item does not include a mattress. Dimensions Approx. Please refer to sketch uploaded (4FT6) Double W: 150cm L: 201 cm Headboard Height: 85 cm
