- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 December 2023Colour Name: Khaki ProVerified PurchaseI love the fact that you can put this tent up in under 5 mins under pouring rain and still have a dry place to hide in after. Inner layer is attached to the outer layer which is what i was looking for mainly.
My only issue is, that the inner layer is basically ALL MESH, to keep yourself warm you entirely depend only on the outer layer, which is not optimal and makes this tent more like a 2,5 seasons... can't even say 3.
Otherwise it's great, tested it in the rain, kept me dry, leak free all night. Pretty spacious and comfy. Just take with you an extra blanket if you're going to camp in under 10C° temperatures 😌
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 May 2025Colour Name: Army Green ProVerified PurchaseWas a bit hesitant about this one as it was a bit of a bargain for what it is but I can honestly say that mine came with everything included, not the lightest tent but small enough for backpacking with, kept me dry in medium rain, don't know about a proper heavy downpour, only bit of advice is to pitch it somewhere sheltered if you're expecting high winds, pitched on top of a mountain and was a bit of a nightmare but that's to be expected with any tent that's not low profile, the outer pitch first is also really nice, remains to be seen how long it will last as I wild camp regularly but for £80 you can't really go far wrong, worst case it can be replaced, highly recommend

I’d use it as is if I could buy a separate p later but rain is forecast. Very disappointed as I’m camping next week. Amazon says they can’t send replacement or missing parts. So decided to return and see if they can replace the whole tent asap

A nice little tent from the Chinese manufacturer NIGHT CAT,
Nice just because of the quality/cost This is the budget version, as the tent is also offered in a nylon, slightly lighter and more expensive.
This is a ripstop type material, alloy poled, geodesic tent, and as such it can be free standing.
It has two opposing entrances and an all 'nozeeum' mesh internal tent, with a substantial groundsheet.
The exoskeleton frame is clipped to the tent, making set up easier than threading the poles through sleeves. There are even small pockets for the corner guylines if not in use. Everything is double stiched and seam sealed throughout. So far no leaks anywhere. Pegs are the cross type and the four corner peg out points can be tensioned idependently.
HH 3000 mm (5000mm on the lightweight model)
Weight : 2.5 kg
We sqeezed two people i just!!
2 berth, but roomy single berth
This is a very good general purpose 2/3 season tent, especially for the money

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 July 2024Colour Name: Army Green ProVerified PurchaseAs an experienced camper I was a bit reluctant to try this as it was cheaper than I expected, took it out in strong winds and it held up incredibly, great for summer with mesh inlining helping with ventillation, managed to fit 2 full adult size single air mattresses with sleepings bags and hiking rucksacks, space on the sides outside inner lining but inside outer shell for small camping table, bags, shoes and drinks etc..
Bit loud in the wind but no fault of the tent just the quirks of camping in the wind but held up flawlessly in 40-50mph winds

- Robert SütterlinReviewed in Sweden on 16 May 2025
5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice tent, for short hikes or camping in sensible weather conditions.
Colour Name: Khaki ProVerified PurchaseUpdate after more testing: Still a good tent if it fits your use case.
My biggest concern with the tent is its season-rating. Especially in Sweden where it has "4-season" in the product title, but really is a summer tent for the warm and rainy part of the year with sudden rain and many varieties of mosquitos.
Also I made up my mind on design features I mentioned below.
1. The asymmetric shape is a good feature if you use it as a 1-person tent, as you can keep one vestibule open no matter what the wind does. If you actually use it with two people it means that in (strong) wind, you must always keep one vestibule closed. In relatively calm summer weather it is absolutely no issue, as the tent does not budge in low wind even with the vestibule open.
2. Unlike my first impression the relatively small vestibule (max 60cm from the inner tent) actually fits enough gear for the expected application (short hikes over limited amount of time in reasonable weather). I found that the 60cm and steep outer wall actually make opening and closing the vestibule much easier than with larger variants – the zipper is just much more accessible from inside the tent.
3. The vestibule also allows to cook what you would on such trips: a coffee in the morning, some hot water for a soup, tea or to warm some ready made meal in the evening. Still I think, two people cannot stay here for an extended period of time to wait out some nasty weather... but that is actually not what I consider the intended purpose of the tent.
4. The venting hoods on the top of the sidewall, which I stated below might be too small, actually do the job together with the all-mesh inner and provide ample ventilation, turning my strongest negative into a positive point as long as it is reasonably warm (I would say above 10°C or maybe 15°C). I got no condensation on the inside of this tent in changing weather pitched with fully closed rainfly (no venting through the vestibules) on grassland, no wind to moderate strong winds, strongly varying (between 3°C to 21°C) temperatures also going fast below the dew point etc., rain and sunshine, morning evening at night. I really do not know what this tent does, but it is the first shelter I have used that just stayed dry on the inside of the rainfly in all such conditions. Actually the cross venting option with both vestibules open is in my opinion only needed in direct sunshine above 18°C or 20°C when the tent would otherwise get very warm quickly.
5. I can say that my tent was nicely seam sealed and stands up well to rain – but again I did _not_ go into "torrential" rain or a thunder storm to test it. Setting it up and putting it down in slightly windy and rainy conditions is what this tent does consistently well and quick: drop the connected inner and outer on the floor, peg one corner, plug in the poles, attach the outer fly, go twice around the tent to stake out all guy-points and -lines, and you reliably get a nice and dry pitch in 2 minutes (after the third or so time :-)).
Final notes: In several internet videos people seem to have trouble connecting the centre-top of the rain fly to the small ball-connector on the pole-crossing. Do not force it in! The connector has a small opening on one side where the ball slides in without any force. And I recommend to first attach this centre connector, then insert the cross-bar and finally the remaining clips.
For its intended purpose it is an affordable and well made tent. For me personally the lack of the "advertised" 4-season or even real 3-season suitability (in Sweden) is unfortunately a no-go.
Below is my original "unboxing and first camping weekend" review.
I cannot speak for the longevity or all weather / season worthiness of the tent from first hand experience.
Out of the box the tent is great! The package is exactly as shown on the product pictures, and no parts are missing. There is no real manual with the tent, but I think no-one who ever set up any tent before will have trouble setting this one up. All seams are nicely done. The seams on the outer shell (fly and bathtub) look seam sealed – but I still need some days of heavy rain to judge the quality of the sealing. There is almost no loose threads – I found two on the straps used to fix the vestibule-doors when they are rolled back, that is not even a cosmetic problem. Zippers run super smooth with one hand, no fiddling no hanging no forcing them around the bend... The aluminium tent poles zip together like magic :-) and the tent's clips snap on them nice and snug, no wobbling, no jamming. You get plenty of storage bags that are just that – nice for storage – as most people will not use them on the outing. And everything comes attached and ready: the inner is already connected inside the outer, every zipper and every peg has a short rope toggle, the guy lines are attached and have a small three hole length adjuster attached, and so on and so on. This looks to me like the result of perfect post-production quality control and a courtesy to the future owner... the target audience is not die-hard trekkers or hikers, but a little more comfort oriented folk, doing a bike or bicycle tour, car camping trip, or short(er) distance hikes like family, fishing and hunting close to a basecamp (home, car, train station). The tent is large enough for two adults on wide (65cm) sleeping pads, with some space at the head or feet to dump a small bag or some gear. I fit myself and my two sons (8 and 12) inside and we have enough space to sleep comfortably, but not to stay there for an extended period of time... for a single person it is a palace and will be sufficient for almost any application, but for myself I would look for a tent under 2kg for just one person.
The tent has several nice ideas that one has to test to see how you like them. Like the strings to fix the rolled up vestibule doors clip to the external tent poles... super nice! The vestibule is asymmetrical, and the tent is rotational symmetric not mirrored, so one can keep one large door open in almost any wind conditions. The tie-out points for the guy-lines offer pockets where you can store the lines neatly. The tent has a spreader bar that creates a really nice wide head room in the centre making it feel much more roomy – and it makes the pitch much more stable, too.
My research on this product, before buying it, showed that there are several versions of the tent, some seem to be discontinued. The one I have, called "Pro", is in my opinion the slightly better of the two budget versions of the tent with aluminium poles and Y-pegs. (There seems to have existed a real PRO 1.8kg silnylon version, but I assume it was discontinued.) This tent is most likely a re-branded 3F UL Gear Taiji 2 – Night Cat seems to be a reseller for several 3F UL Gear products, which I think is great, even if and some times because the Night Cat versions are not fully identical to the 3F UL version. Also the exact configuration of the tent packaging and especially the tent pegs seems to change over time, so you might get something slightly different than a person 6 months ago.
When researching the tent I saw a lot of pictures and videos of the tent with a really awful pitch – very loose and flapping in the tiniest amount of wind, and several videos show the very similar Taiji 2 completely flattened by (strong) wind. That had me quite worried while waiting for the package to be delivered. Fortunately, at least my tent can be pitched almost drum tight without any tricks – in my testing the most important part was to _not_ peg out the four corners of the tent in the beginning; one corner to prevent it from flying away with the wind and to ease inserting the tent poles is enough. Once all poles are in and the doors and guy-lines are set, one can peg out the corners – lift each corner a little, to make sure it is not hanging on the ground with the tip of the tent pole. For me this improved the shape and stability of the pitch noticeably. Of course I have not been in 80km/h winds like some YouTubers, but the last days the wind blew away quite some gear in our garden, the trees are swaying and dancing, but the tent does not budge nor flap or humm. This is not Torres del Paine style windy weather or a Föhn storm in the Alps, but it is wind that pulled out many my tarp setups and can take off the roof of your bicycle shack. So far I am happy with the wind worthiness – but I would not take it out in an extreme weather warning on purpose just to see if it survives.
Some small details could be easily improved to better fit my taste. For instance the minimal storage options (one tiny pocket made from webbing on each side) could be extended. The venting hoodies are a little small, cannot be closed with e.g. velcro and there is no small pole to force them open... I have still to see if this is an issue. I would add two more tent pegs to peg out the vestibule doors in an X, i.e., the left door to a peg slightly to the right and the right door to slightly left peg, which gives better tension and adds stress release for the zipper. The tie-out for the guy-lines could be made a little longer such that it is easy to wrap it around the tent poles – which I do, as it gives a more stable pitch in my experience from other outer-pole tents – and having the length adjusters at the tent and not at the stake. That allows to use the guy-line much shorter / fixed closer, and still use the length adjuster – in very tight pitches, e.g., between trees brushes or rocks where you tie out to a branch, twig, root, rock crevice, etc. ... with the length adjuster you can only shorten to half the line length. But these are modifications one can easily do at home if really needed. For instance I changed the guy-line to my preferred product, replaced the tensioners with my preferred knots and inverted them according to my preferences during the first setup in just 5 minutes...
For me the vestibule is too narrow to really use it for storage and cooking – or even for just cooking. If you are alone in the tent that is not such a big issue as you can store a ton of gear inside the tent itself, and one could dedicate one vestibule for gear and the other for cooking… But even then space for cooking is very very restricted. In the same way a slightly less steep door / larger vestibule would allow to enter / leave the tent without opening a door, just slipping out between the two doors through the open zipper – it is possible now if you are not too big and somewhat agile… just ten centimetres more would make this space much more usable – but also the tent heavier and maybe less stable.
Some things the tent description promise are just no true. I believe you can modify the tent to make them true... but not the way the tent comes out of the factory. For instance, it is clearly made for temperatures above freezing, most likely even for above 15°C, with tons of nice mosquito mesh. Yes you can sleep in the tent at far below 0°C – I sleep down to -10°C with a tarp or even without any shelter if I have no wind – but the tent is simply optimised for warm weather. For winter use the tent poles are too weak to stand up to any serious snow load, and as can be seen on the Internet it cannot handle strong (gusts of) wind, often found in spring or fall, not to speak of „stormy“ weather. Yes that can be compensated by site selection, perfect pitching, adding double poles, a solid inner (BTW 3F UL sells this for the Taiji, but I could not find it from Night Cat, etc. But then you have a completely different tent :-).
Unless the rain performance is abysmal I am sure this tent does exactly what I wanted at a very competitive price.
