Buy cheap, buy twice is the usual caution, but this 'cheap' projector delivers great results and is incredible value for money! Sure, you can spend £kkk's on tri-laser models with ever-better specs and I'm sure they're amazing, but for ease of setup, and quality of performance, especially for your first projector, this impressed me no end (and I have a huge LG OLED TV, so I'm used to great blacks/a good picture)
A word of warning if you're new to UST projectors though; they all need a crazy flat surface to project on because of the narrow angles they use; the slightest ripple, crease, or blemish will distort your picture and be an annoyance; you won't notice too much on stills, but anything that pans can look dreadful! Ordinary projector screens and plain walls are pretty poor (doable/bearable, but you'll want better!) - I'd recommend at least a tabbed regular screen for good results (in dark rooms) - the tabs/strings tension the surface to be flatter than normal screens.
If you do want to use your UST as a replacement for your TV (for use in any lighting conditions) you'll absolutely need a DLR/CLR screen, many of which can cost 1000's! They bring the performance back near to OLED-levels, but you'll be spending quite a few bob more!
I still use my TV as my daily driver as it looks great in any light, but the projector always comes out for movie nights; even though the projector can't match the inky blacks of the OLED, the picture is great and otherwise the equal of a 4K LCD. Plus the general experience of watching a huge picture is awesome! I use mine at 120" (and that only needs 37cm from the screen!) which is at least £3k for an equivalent TV.
I read a review which knocked the fan noise btw; it's very quiet and no cause for concern, unless you're watching a silent movie perhaps!
Would I recommend this? Absolutely, just be ready to invest in something good to project onto as well!
