This is absolutely fantastic and my two cats love it to bits. I bought the medium one and my two Orientals have plenty of space to spread themselves out on. It would easily have been big enough for my old dogs (terriers and dachshunds, from mini to small standard). It is toasty warm (though you won't feel it until you've pressed your hand into it for a few seconds - the heating elements respond to pressure on them). The controller is easy to use and read, though it would be a further improvement if it showed how much time you have remaining from the time you set. On a low heat, it will keep Happy and Glad warm all day, on a medium one they're cosy all night.
It's also so cheap to run that it doesn't show up on the smart meter reader. It's currently saving me in the region of £12 a day! For that much money, one day's saving means I can afford to buy them the very expensive but absolutely wonderful food that they love (Eden - also available on Amazon). Taking into account seasonal variations in temperature, I reckon I'm looking to save a minimum of £1,500 over the year. I love it! If anyone knows the designer, tell them there's a metaphorical huge hug floating about in the ether, just for them!
The cover is velvety soft and has a good quality zip. The fabric is quite thick and would almost certainly be acceptable to most animals. Mine like to dig themselves into a burrow so I've folded a thick throw and put that on top. The heat is still very easy to feel through it. The edges are built around like low walls with other inexpensive throws and they build a new nest every day. Often, all I can see is the tips of four ears. They love it!
One minor disadvantage - they now rarely want to sit on my knee. I know that the heater has turned off when one of them comes looking for a snuggle next to me!
I really can't praise this highly enough for it's efficiency and cost effectiveness. Try it and watch your heating bills tumble!
